Mac OS X Readme ===================== This release was built on an Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) platform. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) was built on the GNOME-2 libraries and the engine was built using the IBM XLFortran compiler, v8.1. The GNOME-2 desktop environment (libraries) must be installed in order for the GUI to function properly. For the HTML format of the help documents to be accessed, a web browser or equivalent must be installed. For the PDF format of the manuals to be viewed, a PDF viewer must be installed. Gnome Desktop Environment Notes ------------------------------- To install the GNOME-2 desktop environment, follow these simple steps. 1) Install the X Windows environment for the MAC. This is readily available from Apple and should be included with recent versions of OS X: 10.3 (Panther) and 10.4 (Jaguar). We do not support prior versions, because Apple doesn't support X Windows on prior versions. X Windows is typically included on an extra CD with these supported operating systems mentioned prior. 2) The easiest way to install GNOME-2 is to use FINK. FINK is available at the following web-site. http://fink.sourceforge.net/ This site is well organized, so follow the instructions and support documentation available to learn more on how to download and install FINK for MAC OS X. 3) Once FINK is up and running, use it to install GNOME-2. The command "fink install bundle-gnome" installs the GNOME-2 desktop environment. Installation Notes ------------------ Once the GNOME-2 desktop environment is properly installed, there are no known GUI issues. There have been isolated cases where the necessary set of GNOME libraries was incompatible with the GUI, causing execution errors. If this does occur, please contact us for more detailed information. Execution Notes --------------- There are no known numerical or graphical issues at this time.
