Food writing is a much broader genre than many people realize. It can inform with a coveted recipe, tantalize with a delicious description, or criticize with a cutting jab. Professional food writer Nicholas Gill has written within the smorgasbord that is food writing, and in this four-session event, he will show you not only how to write it but also how to sell it.

The first three sessions will define what exactly constitutes food writing, including:

  • Recipe writing
  • Narrative food writing
  • Food criticism

After each session, attendees will submit a sample text for feedback and brief discussion in the following sessions. The final session will be an overview of how to get the work published and out into the world, such as finding the right publication, the basics of writing query letters, and rates of pay.

This event is perfect for beginner to intermediate food writers who want to enter the professional world of food writing.
