In this intimate workshop, you’ll deepen your understanding of the children’s book market and get expert tips on how to successfully query an agent. In the first session, Susan will provide an introduction to the children’s book market, including the types of stories that appeal to agents and editors, typical manuscript length, how to do helpful market research, and how to set trends rather than follow them. Then, in session two, Susan will teach you how to query your children’s book project. After the second session, you’ll be able to submit a query letter to Susan, who will review it and provide you with written feedback. Take advantage of this opportunity to set your children’s book project up for success with the hands-on guidance of an expert in the field.
All writers age 18+ are welcome! Whether you’re new to children’s books or have been reading (and writing) in this area for a while, Susan would love to have you join the workshop. The material presented will be helpful to those just beginning to explore the children’s book world; those who know they want to write for children, but aren’t sure if their book idea is viable; for writers who have a finished draft of a project, but are uncertain of where it fits into the market; those who’ve finished a manuscript and are ready to tackle the querying process; and those who’ve been querying, but haven’t grabbed an agent’s attention yet.
