Description

Writing is an art, but publishing is a business. If you’re an author who wants to someday see your book on bookstore shelves, this workshop will give you the information you’ll need to effectively handle an offer of representation from an agent or negotiate your own book contract with a publisher. Some of the topics the workshop will cover include:

  • What to ask an agent who offers representation
  • Copyright and ownership of your work
  • Subsidiary rights
  • Advances and royalty rates
  • Negotiating for your most favorable contract terms

This workshop is primarily aimed at writers of fiction who have completed or nearly completed a novel and are trying to decide if they want to seek representation through an agent, negotiate their own book contracts, or both.
