Description

In this live online class, I’ll share the five things I’ve found most essential to recovering and writing women's stories, whether they are part of your family's history or other women from history who transfix you.

During our time together, we'll focus on essential strategies you can employ to make the characters in your stories come alive for your readers. More particulary, I’ll share the ways I research a person and era before I sit down to write, what kinds of details I search for, and how I continue to refine my research once my writing is underway. I'll also talk about how I use imagination and empathy to deepen and complement history and facts--both in nonfiction and fiction. At the end of the session, I'll offer a selection of my favorite writing samples and creative prompts, and finish with an interactive Q & A.
