The Hidden Life of Bees
Sunday, February 28th, 10am-11:30am PT / 1pm-2:30pm ET
In this seminar Brigit will explain some of the basic differences between bumblebees, solitary bees, and honeybees – including lifecycles and nesting behaviour; their relationships with flowering plants; the problems they all face; and, most important, what we can do to help them.
Brigit Strawbridge Howard is a wildlife gardener, naturalist, and advocate of bees. Based in the South West of England, she writes and campaigns to raise awareness of the importance and diversity of native wild bees and other pollinating insects. Her debut book, “Dancing with Bees: A Journey Back to Nature,” documents the story of how her interest in bees led to her rediscovering her childhood love of the natural world.
She appeared with her then husband, Dick Strawbridge, in the BBC2 series “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”
