Chavi Eve Karkowsky, MD is a high risk obstetrician in New York City. She is also a writer, with pieces in the Atlantic, Slate, the Washington Post, and elsewhere. Her first book, "High Risk: Stories of Pregnancy, Birth and the Unexpected" (Liveright/Norton) was published this year.
In terms of her medical training, Chavi went to college at Yale University, and completed medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She then went on to residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the integrated program at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, followed by a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Â at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
