Jamey Williams (he/him) is a poet, educator, actor, and rapper from Richmond, California. He has been teaching spoken word poetry workshops in various institutions across the Bay Area since 2015.

Bio

Jamey Williams (he/him/his) is an outspoken poet representing Richmond, California. After winning the Compliment Death Match at the 2017 National Poetry Slam, he became the first person to be known as “the nicest poet in the country.” 


Jamey is the co-founder of both the Rich Oak Alchemy Slam and the California State University East Bay Slam Poetry Club. He was the first runner-up in game five of an international competition called Poetry Battles. His other achievements include: touring internationally, publishing two chapbooks, and performing at the Twitter, Yelp, and Google headquarters. 


Jamey is also an accomplished actor who does stage theater and commercials. He was featured in a Truth Anti Tobacco commercial which premiered at the 2018 Grammys before being shown on television stations around the country. He was also featured in Stub Hub ads. When Jamey isn’t organizing or competing, he spends his time reading, educating youth, watching anime, and pursuing his bachelor's degree.
