Kris Davidson is a Seattle-based artist working with photo-based media to explore the American experience. She is a National Geographic photographer and has worked on editorial and commercial projects for 15 years.

Deepen Your Visual Voice: A 6 Month Mentorship With Kris Davidson

In this 6-month mentorship (comprised of 8 class sessions and 2 individual sessions) attendees will deepen their photographic storytelling practice by working on a long-term photo-based project. This mentorship is best for people who have an initial comfort level with photographic image-making who want to refine their visual voice as they work on a cohesive photographic/art project. All project disciplines are welcome (photojournalism/editorial, documentary, commercial, art, personal work, mixed media (painting on/photographic collage).

Bio

A native of Sweden, Kris Davidson spent the first half of her childhood in the Scandinavian Arctic and the second half in Texas. After 15 years as a travel photographer working internationally, Kris has turned her attention to considering the American experience, focusing on how storytelling shapes national identity. Forging an aesthetic that merges reality and fiction, she frequently uses mixed media elements on photographic prints in an ongoing exploration of the fluid intersection of perceived truth, memory, and imagination. 

Kris’s photography has been published extensively in National Geographic, Lonely Planet Traveller, and many others. Before becoming a photographer, Kris worked as a branding professional for eight years in the San Francisco Bay area. Kris has been also faculty at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for 12 years, teaching in the BFA and MFA programs.

Kris has an MFA from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California, and a BA from Loyola University in New Orleans. She is based in Seattle, Washington. Visit www.krisdavidson.com to learn more.
